A quiet start for the President's second term

On a sunny and cool day in Washington D.C. with temperatures hovering around 55-58° Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Roberts administers the oath of office as prescribed by the constitution just a few minutes before noon to the President Barack Obama in the Blue Room of the White House. His wife, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha stand in the foreground as the President is sworn in for a second term. For this private ceremony in the White House, the President chose to use the Robinson Family bible, which has been in Mrs. Obama’s family since the early 1950’s.

President Obama’s second term officially started at noon on Sunday January 20, 2013, however all of the pageantry and celebrations that are the Presidential Inaugural will take place on Monday. The iconic moment most Americans identify with regarding the inaugural and taking the oath of office on the steps of the Capitol Building will happen a day later, not because of a constitutional issue but rather for tradition.

What major accomplishments will the President’s second term bring? Who will the candidates vying for the next election be? There are so many things that need get done. Each administration comes in to power with so much potential make changes. However today a more experienced and more focused president gets to finish what he started four years ago.
